EYE SITES
Between 2005 and 2007, Melchert created a subtle, elegant body of work titled Eye Sites. This series was produced on slate grey tile with minimal embellishment. He described the Eye Sites series by explaining his system of instructions, “A strategy I often use to develop an image is to establish rules similar to inventing a game. The twofold purpose of this body of work was to reveal the inner structure of the tiles and to assemble them in a way that gives them order.
