EARTHDOOR
Earthdoor is a site-specific sculpture installed in 1965 on the grounds of the Di Rosa Center for Contemporary Art. It is Melchert’s first large-scale site-dependent work. The Di Rosa Preserve, as it was then known, had just begun plowing its fields to transform a portion of its Napa Valley Estate into vineyards.
